Stick a Needle in My…

In choose your destiny, musings, synchronicity on November 8, 2010 at 5:20 pm

Was that a needle you just poked in my ear or are you just…?

And it wasn’t just one needle–it was five needles—in each ear!

Nope, I wasn’t exploring my masochistic side (well, not too much!), instead I had my very first experience with acupuncture. And although there was a teeny twinge of ouchness, it lasted but a second. And for the next hour, I simply relaxed, meditated and felt really grounded.

[A feat this live-in-her-header often struggles with!]

Ironically, needle-piercing sandwiched my weekend.

You see, last night I got my second tattoo.

On the inside of my left wrist, my first tattoo reads, “take a deep breath.” And now my second tattoo—on my other wrist—reads, “be here now.”

[More words for this not-so-grounded lady to live by!]

Perhaps a smidge of pain to get to that desired, grounded calm…

iSpy: Something that Soars

In musings, synchronicity on October 6, 2010 at 8:28 am

I saw magic hovering over the expressway this morning. An ebb and flow of hundreds of birds, gliding as one.

Up. Down. Around.

Oblivious to the traffic jam of cars, which were not moving as one!

What is it like to be in sync so completely? To daringly dip and soar without fear?
Perhaps the magic of this morning’s little black cloud is to let intuition guide me.

Or maybe…it was simply a flock of happy little birds!

Class Is In Session

In books, choose your destiny, quotes, songs, synchronicity on January 1, 2010 at 9:51 pm

They say the teacher comes when the student is ready. Well I must be ready because Prof. Synchronicity is at the lectern and I’m frantically taking notes.

Ah-ha #1: I recently picked up Sarah Ban Breathnach’s book, Something More, and on page 39 I read the following quote:

“What if I told you that one year from today, you could be living your dreams, but (there’s always a ‘but’) it would mean that every day between now and then you would have to choose your destiny; in other words, that there are at least 365 choices standing between your dream and its coming true?”

Well, no, this isn’t new information but like I said, when the student’s ready….

Ah-ha #2: While checking out the “Best Music of 2009, From ‘Song of the Day’” on NPR, I listened to, “The First Days of Spring” by Noah and the Whale, and found more synchronicity:

“It’s the first day of spring
And my life is starting over again.
The trees grow. The river flows,
And its water will wash away my sins.
For I do believe that everyone has one chance
To f*@k up their lives,
But like a cut down tree, I will rise again,
And I’ll be bigger and stronger than ever before.”

[“Yes. Yes…’stronger….than…ev-er…be-fore…,'” I say silently as I finish writing my notes. “Dang, this is a great class–I should have signed up sooner!”]

Ah-ha #3: Quote on the back of One–a great little book published by Compendium (love them!)–reads:

“The purpose of life is to discover your gift. The meaning of life is to give your gift away.” –David Viscott

Oh…wow, I love that!

So let me wrap up today’s lessons:
1. I’m ready to choose my destiny.
2. I may have gotten lost somewhere along the way, but I can (and will!) rise again.
3. It’s time to give away my gifts.

[Oh, crap…what are my gifts?! Patience, Trace, you get to discover those another day.]
