iSpy: Something that Is Fabulous…

In grateful, painting with light on October 24, 2010 at 6:40 pm

Looking for something fab-u-lous?

This afternoon, I discovered another of DC’s hidden gems: Hillwood Museum and Gardens. The museum is gilded to the hilt but the gardens…

…absolutely stunning.

Enjoy some of the sites I spied in the place “where fabulous lives.”

Orchids are simply magical...

Gorgeousness greets us at the entrance.

A daliah on the verge...

Amen, sista!

10 Things on 10.10.10

In Uncategorized on October 10, 2010 at 4:16 pm

To honor the idea of discovering new lands, we headed out and hit the back roads of Pennsylvania and New York.

Check out 10 of the cool finds I spied today:

1. Two fishermen walking down a stream.

2. Perfectly placed pumpkins on front porches.

3. A man talking to a goat, a horse nudging a chicken and two pigs burrowing in their sty.

4. A ginko leaf that was transforming from green to gold.

5. Purple and golden mums filling roadside stands.

6. A farmer cutting down the tall, dry cornstalks.

7. Sweet lavender flowers in Allegheny State Park.

8. Ghosts dancing around a tree.

9. Crimson. Maroon. Gold. Orange. Rust. And flaming red. Welcome, fall!

10. A rainbow growing out of the mist at Niagara Falls.

Happy 10.10.10, everyone!

Words + New Ideas = Mind-blowing Podcast

In musings on October 7, 2010 at 5:14 pm

Whatcha doin’ tonight?

If you have an hour to spare, consider listening to this fun Radio Lab podcast on…words.

Their power. Their ability to make you think. I mean, really think.

I’ve been a long-time fan of Radio Lab but this episode (listened to on my commute home) sparked my imagination.

So…if you’re bored…

Enjoy, cute friends!

iSpy: Something that Soars

In musings, synchronicity on October 6, 2010 at 8:28 am

I saw magic hovering over the expressway this morning. An ebb and flow of hundreds of birds, gliding as one.

Up. Down. Around.

Oblivious to the traffic jam of cars, which were not moving as one!

What is it like to be in sync so completely? To daringly dip and soar without fear?
Perhaps the magic of this morning’s little black cloud is to let intuition guide me.

Or maybe…it was simply a flock of happy little birds!
